Some free programs you may find helpful

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 22, 2012, 12:40 PM
Here are some free programs that you guys might find useful :)

-For drawings/illustrations I recommend Painttool SAI, Adobe illustrator, CorelDRAW, Sketchbook Pro.
But InkScape is free inkscape.downloadasaurus.com/

-For painting, and Photo manipulation which can also be used for drawing, I suggest Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter.
GIMP is free www.gimp.org/
(you can also animate on GIMP, so GIF animations can be made in GIMP.

-Some 3D programs are Autodesk Maya (can get free for 3 years if you're in school), 3D max, Z-brush.
Blender is free www.blender.org/

-Animation programs are Adobe flash pro, Toonboom.
Pencil is free www.pencil-animation.org/
Doink is free and online flash animation www.doink.com/

-Music and sound producing programs are Magix, Pro Tools, Audacity (free but very limited) or Reason.
Fl Studio is free for only the demo which isn't a trial but you can't open a file to edit or work on it so you'll have to leave your computer on and make music without saving and export as mp3. www.image-line.com/downloads/f…

I hadn't really looked at this journal entry in depth because I have all I need... Or so I thought.
This Pencil thing? HELL YES. THANK YOU.
I will take this and make my first big step into the long journey that is animating! I'm going to do this! I'm going to make something out of myself the way I want to be! TAKE THAT, WORLD! HA HA! MY DREAMS FINALLY SEEM WITHIN MY GRASP!

lmao, if it didn't come on everyone's computer for free I would have placed it on there. Unless somehow someone's computer doesn't have it. :iconwthplz:

Macs never have MS Paint unless it comes with the Parallels program. The MS stands for Microsoft, so Apple has to give it another name on Macs when you install it. They call it Paintbrush. XD

LOL Apple. You try SO HARD. :iconimhappyplz:

I don't like Paintbrush :iconwthplz:
It looks like it's downgraded compared to MS Paint. It could be that I'm not used to huge icons and buttons though.

It's exactly the same as MS Paint with the exception of the button locations. XD

I heard, though it at least it looks better and more cleaner than PS. The easier option is Painttool SAI, but that cost money (affordable though) unless you find the free one floating somewhere.

Yeah, Illustrator is definitely cleaner, especially when it comes to printing. With Illustrator, you can blow things up without them ever getting fuzzy (because it's a vector program), but with Photoshop things almost always look not-so-nice when you print them out. Especially with larger paper..... (learned le hard way)

You're right, I did that when trying to look up patterns for 3D class. I had to resize the image and the colors were just horrible when printed. It didn't look like that on the computer but somehow the printer reaped the image when it was printed in PS.

One thing you could do is raise the DPI, but it still doesn't look as nice as you would like it to be.
